I really do have the best partner in the entire world!Jeff has surprised me with a trip to Chicago today for my birthday, although I actually figured it out weeks ago. I knew we were going on a quick four day trip, so that narrowed the field of possible destinations. I suppose we could get to the islands fairly quickly but he slipped up and said this was going to be an urban vacation.
Couldn't be New York... done that to death. Seattle is too far away to do for this amount of time. Houston? Atlanta? He knows better... Besides Chicago is about the only US city that I haven't done (at least in the list of ones I care to do!)
Then one evening we were sitting around listening to music. The word "Chicago" happened to be in the lyrics of this particular song. He immediately said, "Are you sure you don't want to know where we are going for your birthday?"
I said, "I already know where we are going, Baby. Especially now!"
He looked confused for a moment, then like Homer Simpson said, "Doh!" (not kidding, just like that) and slapped his forehead. Very cliche. Very cute!
He knows how much I get off wandering around looking at architecture, so he's taking me to Mecca. Unbelieveable that, as an architect, I have never been before. Isnt' that just totally cool?
Sorry, Bitches! I got the best one!!!!!

Why only this weekend I treated Schuyler to some lemon pie at Lea's in Lecompte, and then a lovely drive through historic downtown Bunkie after our GPS conked out coming back from Shreveport. No greater love, say I...
